🍕Chrissy's Pizza + Radio Bakery + Tiramisu Cinny Rolls
Have you missed this Shit? We're in need of summer eaters!
We’re back just in time for summer! 🌞🍴
While you were busy eating, I was in the trenches, taking a month-long break from sugar. Not fun, but not as bas as you’d think. Honestly, giving up Diet Coke was the worst part (yes, I counted fake sugar too). I broke the fast by finally making it to Radio Bakery — more on that below.
I haven’t tried many new chocolate chip cookies lately, aside from Radio’s — which was chewy, thin, and pretty solid. But From Lucie is still my #1. Next up on my list: The Pastry Box. If you’re in CCC withdrawal, Rachel D. has a new favorite recipe below. Bake it. Report back.
Sorry for the hiatus. Did you miss us? We’d love to hear from you! Submit your eats to shitweate@substack.com & follow @shitweatethisweek on IG for live bites.
Pepperoni Pie / Chrissy’s Pizza, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
This hyped pie reminded me of Joe’s Pizza, and I mean that in the best way as Joe’s is my favorite classic NYC pie. Chrissy’s had a super crisp crust and a tomato sauce just sweet enough. That said, I’d go plain next time — the pep weighed it down. Solid addition to the pizza scene.
Smoked Salmon Sandwich / Radio Bakery, Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Finally made it here on a weekday morning — no line, thankfully (I wouldn’t have waited). I missed out on the weekend specials and ordered the blueberry lime croissant, chocolate chip cookie, brown butter corncake, and salmon sandwich. Despite my love for sweets, the sandwich was the standout: stacked on everything focaccia with extra dill. Close second? The corncake — best cornbread I’ve ever had, thanks to that brown butter richness.
Chicken Parm / Cafe Spaghetti, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn
Get the chicken parm here — you won’t be disappointed. We also really enjoyed the Lambrusco Rosato called Salame Rider, and honestly, the name made it even better.
Dirty Martini Schmear / PopUp Bagels, Midtown
I’m still partial to Apollo Bagels over PopUp, but I happened to be near the Midtown location and saw they had a dirty martini schmear. I loved the briny olive flavor in the cream cheese and honestly, I could eat about three of these bagels myself. They’re small... OK?
Chocolate olive oil cake / Corto, Jersey City
I never order plain olive oil cake since I make it at home often. But chocolate olive oil cake? That’s a different story. It’s the richest, glossiest, most decadent version and this one was covered in a salted ganache, which pushed it over the edge. Need to recreate immediately.
Tiramisu Cinnamon Roll / The Hive, Jersey City
The hype around The Hive's cinnamon rolls never ends. One weekend morning, I stopped in for coffee and spotted a few Tiramisu rolls still available. I have to say—this one’s my favorite yet. I enjoyed it way more than the classic. The mascarpone icing is a bit lighter than the usual glaze, and the roll sits in a bath of coffee.
Brown butter chocolate chip cookies by Rachel D.
This recipe comes from Sarah Kieffer’s 100 Cookies book and might be the best chocolate cookies I’ve made to date. It’s quite simple—the use of brown sugar and the addition of fleur de sel perfectly balance the bittersweet chocolate.
Steak tacos with homemade tortillas (and next-day breakfast tacos) by Nicole B.
I’ve been having more fun with the sourdough discard than the actual bread baking lately. I made these tortillas for taco night and also made some crackers, which were consumed so quickly I made them twice back to back.
